In an attempt to learn everyone's name I decided it was time to take some pictures and create a list to put a name with a face. Most of the kids' names I know...but we now have some new students and I just want to make sure I become familiar with their names.....because the reality of it is.....I'm terrible with remembering names.
Don't we have the greatest looking kids?? I'm kind of partial. These are the majority of our students from Vila Esperança unfortunately we had a few missing today. Tomorrow.....my photography project with our students in Ilha Bela.
A side note.....some thing kind of funny happened today as Carol and I were returning home from our morning session with the kids. We had just passed the last signal light coming out of the neighborhoods we work in and saw some police off to the side of the road. I attempted to move to the other lane to go around....then to my surprise one of the officers motioned me to stay in the lane and stop...so I did. He then came up to the window and asked for my documents so I gave him my protocol and my international drivers license. He took one look at my protocol and got a big smile on his face and then took my documents over to where the other officers were....he said he was going to check them. Carol and I were watching all this happen....he was talking to the other officers and we knew when they found out I was an American because the whole group of them all looked over at us at about the same time and were smiling and staring....to which Carol and I just started laughing. The officer came back and gave me my documents and was still smiling. Then he said "Obrigado" ("thank you" in portuguese) and I responded "De nada" ("you're welcome" in portuguese) to which he started laughing. Carol and I left and we laughed the rest of the way home.....amusing.
