Last night at our cell group our initial conversation starter revolved around "dreams" for our lives. Debora handed each of us a little piece of paper with these words at the top..."5 dreams for my life." My list included these 5 things:
- Get married
- Write a book
- Take a trip to Italy
- Have children
- Being a speaker for women's retreats and events
After we all wrote our lists Debora started reading through some scenarios where we had to begin elimiating some of our dreams....which made us prioritize the ones that were the most important. Each time we all shared which dream we had marked off our list. We had gone through a couple of rotations and then I shared my dream about writing a book which surprisingly enough garnered the most enthusiastic response from the rest of the group. I don't think they expected that from me.....but truth be told it is a secret dream I have been carrying for a long time. My hope is to make it a reality. I guess I could also say that is part of the reason why I have this blog.....I'm "testing" the waters with my writing ability. I know that I have a ways to go....but you never improve unless you practice so here I am. Also I have been keeping journals that include entrees of everyday life as well as the working through of personal and spiritual issues. At the beginning of this year I put together a list of goals that was published in my update letter that goes out to all my supporters and the very last goal was:
Develop my writing skills and pursue creating a piece of written work for possible publishing
When this will become a reality is simply in God's hands....however there are things that I am doing now to make this a reality.....like the practicing and developing stage by writing here on my blog. Which brings me to the point of saying that our dreams really involve two individuals.....God and us. We seek God, ask for His guidance and discernment.....but then we also have a role to play by actually taking the steps God impresses us to take....even if they are baby steps.
So I leave you today with something to think about.....What are your dreams and what are the baby steps you are taking in making those dreams a reality?
