According to my "blog" calendar today I am to write an update to my post from January 23 regarding one of my goals for this year. I believe I posted about creating a way to "plug-in" students from Ilha Bela and Vila Esperança into the Youth Club.
Let's just say I have an idea at this point and I've mentioned "said" idea to Cris Brakefield who in turn has mentioned it to Aaron. I haven't actually sat down and talked with him about it.....yet. The idea is......having a semester end "reward" party..............at the club.
Well Cris has told me that Aaron likes the idea......ok score 1 for Shelly. I mentioned it to Menezes who teaches the English classes and also works at the club. He likes the idea.....score 2 for Shelly. So now for a sit down conversation with Aaron....which I suspect will go well. However we need to get permission from the church council in order to use the club.
I would really like to see this happen....it just seems to be the natural progression from the English classes....to the club......to the church.
The big obstacle? Transportation.
You see our church and location for the club are right on the main avenue but Ilha Bela and Vila Esperança are quite a distance away. You could take a bus....but it costs money. You could take your bike....but you need to have one. You could walk.....but that would take a long time. So you see we need a way to overcome this hurdle of transportation.
It's all a great idea....in theory.....but we need to pray and have new ideas to make it a reality.
hey, there, i get really tickled every time i access your site...it is so well done...and expresses your heart with such finis...you are gathering so much that you can write about, pictures and all, when the Lord gives you time for that chapter in your life...i, too, have had a few days off work (but not from home-stuff) to recuperate from a viral cold...laid me down...such times of refreshment in the Lord with time on my hands...studies of Isaiah have been so rich this past year...searching for a summer study...Jack Hayford has written a new book, Penetrating the Darkness, about living in this dark world of tremendous spiritual needs...i need challenged to keep on keeping on...will be praying with you as you plan for July's rewards party...so good to see fruits of your labor in picture form...luv/prayers, char wilson
